Robert H. Davidson, Q.C.
Robert Hugh Davidson, Q.C., was a senior partner of the Davidson Gregory Law Firm and practiced criminal law for 50 years. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, Mr. Davidson received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Alberta. Mr. Davidson was called to the Alberta Bar in 1971 and subsequently the Bars of British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and Saskatchewan.
Mr. Davidson has acted as an instructor at the University of Alberta and as an instructor at Bar Admission Courses and the Continuing Legal Education Society Seminars of Alberta and British Columbia relating to the defence of drug cases, the defence of proceeds of crime cases and the defence of income tax cases. In addition, Mr. Davidson has lectured at joint continuing educational seminars involving the Chartered Accountants of Alberta and the Law Society of Alberta respecting the prosecution and defence of charges under the Income Tax Act. Mr. Davidson has also presented papers to the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association, the Canadian Bar Association (Criminal law Justice subsection) and the International Reform of Criminal Law Association.
Mr. Davidson was a founding member of the Criminal Trial Lawyers Association in 1977 and held the position of President where he spearheaded a movement to develop an aggressive and specialized defence bar in Edmonton. Mr. Davidson was also a member of the Canadian Bar Association (Criminal Law Justice subsection).
As counsel, Mr. Davidson has practiced criminal law in Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, the Northwest, Nunavut, and Yukon, and has appeared before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Mr. Davidson was an accomplished criminal defence lawyer. He restricted his practice primarily to the defence of complex narcotics/drug cases including search and seizure, search warrant, wiretap, conspiracy and proceeds of crime cases.
